4th Generation Whats the whistling noise when i accelerate?

Everytime when i floor my car, there is this whistling noise from the engine area. Is this common from all Camrys or not? What is this noise and where is it coming from?

-------------------------------------
Here's two sound clips i just made. it kinda sounds little bit hissier on the computer.

whistle_01.mp3
whistle_02.mp3

here are **** video files of these sound clips if anyone is interested, i had to use my digicam for the sound.

whistle_01.avi
whistle_02.avi

Engines forma vacuum when they are running. It is possible that you are just hearing the vacuum through the intake.

i don't remember if you hav said you have an intake or not, if you still have the stock one, maybe you've got a break some where in the rubber and when you push on the throttle it's sucking air in through there.

..other places....

your wipers?
someting looks that is catching air?
drive train gears?

No, i do not have an intake yet. Im holding off on that for now... I will try to look around that area sometime this week, i never thought of that happening. I just want to be sure what it is. Its definately not my wipers, i just bought a pair. Im not sure what the drive train gear are, or where either.

I had this as well

I had this as well with my Gen 3. It was one of the engine pulleys, so get your belts and pulleys checked. Mine dried out and had no lube on it. Cost me about 40$ for the part and 60 for the labor, they did it when they changed my timing belt.

Is it related to engine speed or road speed? If you put it in neatral a hold the engine at a fast idle 2K or so do you hear it? If so it is not the gears. If you do I would look for a vacum leak or belt/pulley noise. Is it a whistle or whine? If it is a whine look at your power steering fluid level also.

what he said....if it increases/ gets whinier with speed, then it's most likely a belt- be it dry, or cracked

one of my accessory belts had a long crack in it before I changed it, and it sounded like I had a blower in my car

im guessing you just got a whistley 5sfe like eveyrone else.. it should almsot sound like a wastegate dumping from inside your car when ya driving... it spretty much normal...somethig is wearing, or needs lube or along those lines, but every old 5sfe ive heard whistles.
