Headlights On = Engine Off

recently whenever i turn on the headlights the engine shuts off, so at night i drive with the hazard lights and i can hear the engine struggling. whats wrong

kind of sounds like you alt. isnt working right and you dont have the power in you battery.

or you could have a short in one of your wires the is cousing it to ground out. i'd go and have it looked at.

is it low on water/ if so i would but you need to use distilled water. it realy doesnt sound like the battery to me. have you tryed to start you car with the lights on?

I think warlock pretty much has it nailed on this. Take it someplace to have the electrical system checked out unless you want to tear into it yourelf. If you do I think we could help you out otherwise take it in.

yea, gonna take it to kragen to have it checked out since they do free testings

If u have had a Alarm/remote start installed latley the wires that are after the headlight switch that sends power to the headlights may be grounding out. Check all the connections.

Also if ur alternator isnt working right or isnt strong enough, the extra load of the headlights will take away from the strength of the spark plugs.

But look for shorts

k, now theres smoke coming out from the engine...below the headers, i think the catalytic converter? and the yellow liquid is coming out too. wth? anyone have this problem?
