OverDrive Problem

Hi guys. Today, my O/D light came off "O/D off" on my dashboard. I assume it has something to do with my transmission. I seem to have no problems when I am driving at speeds from 10-40 mph, however, my RPM will jump up rapidly(wont shift) and stay constant when I accelerate 40mph +. I am going to get it checked out, was hoping for some information someone can provide, as I have just moved to a new area, and do not want to be taken for a ride at the expense of my wallet. Do not want to create any more damage. I drive

95 Camry LE
76,000 miles
Automatic

I do appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

Chris

Im not very familiar with cars. I looked through the manual and didnt see much. I feel kind of stupid for not knowing this. Where is the general area that it will be located?

your "od" button should be placed on your gear stick, underneath the big button that you push to change gears. you can feel it.

I think that we have to realize that there are people who don't give a rip about cars. Just not something that they care to do. They should feel as welcome here as the gearheads who's complete life revolves around cars!

the O/D off button is located on the gear (left side of the top, a place your thumb would easily reach)

You are absolutely right and I apologize for my previous "Wow." comment. But on the other hand, he said he checked the manual and found nothing, when we all know for a fact that the Overdrive feature is clearly covered and if he REALLY did read the manual, he would have found his answer there.

The Overdrive button should be around the same general area as in this picture.

Let's hope he posts back to see if this cured his problem. I don't think anybody came down on him really hard, but there are times when we can get carried away(me included)!

Gary

P.S Gridlyne

My first reaction was the same as yours.
