crank pulley

i just replaced the timing belt, water pump and seals several days ago. (BTW, great information on this forum so i was able to do this myself.) i did run into one problem when trying to remove the crank pulley - what is the thread size for the screws on the pulley?? i already had one puller but didnt have the correct size threads, so i bought a different one at sears with more sizes to no avail. in despiration i had a 5/16" tap and screws so i drilled and tapped the holes. i did all 4 as not to throw the pulley off balance. my real question is, will this cause any problems?

use a 3 jaw gear puller (looks like a claw)free to rent at autozone and take one of the jaws off (makes it at 2 jaw puller) it will come right off. guaranteed. Oh! the reason you have to take one of the jaws off?.... you'll see! Just make sure you reposition the claw so both claws are 180 degrees or straight across from each other.
