New-Used Camry owner with questions....

Hey all,

Just purchased an '87 Camry LE with 4 cyl., auto, 16 valve, 98K miles. Car rund like a scalded dog and am sure this little firecracker will get better gas mileage than my F20.

Since I learn the most from forums, I'd really appreciate ANY anformation or ideas on problems to watch for, maintenence ideas, etc. Also, does anyone have a Camry shop manual on CD he/she might want to trade for a '95 4Runner manual on CD?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or comments. I sincerely appreciate them.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

Yeah search would find everything you need to know, just do the basics like oil and water checking and replacing and other basic checks. Do you have any problems with it currently?.

3rd Generation

You have a good car their, see if the timing belt has every been replaced. If you drive it often and no leaking oil seals yet then the motor was likely babied and well cared for. If its an auto, get the transmission flushed if its never been done. I think its $80 at the dealer.

Just follow what the manual says for typical service intervals and go over the ignition spark system to make sure its clean and up to spec.

Thanks for the response...

Hey all,

Thanks for the responses. The only thing I can find wrong is the passenger side CV joint is popping when turning to the left. Will fix it soon. No leaks I can find other than the gasket between the manifold and exhaust is leaking. Some people pay big bucks to get their vehicle to sound like this one now.

Appreciate the help.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ
