99 Camry timing and water pump?

I'm think about changing a water pump and timing belt on a 99 Toyota Camry with 4cyl. engine with a/c. Are special tools needed for either job? Any info and or hints for either procedure would be most helpfull.

Thanks,

kvkev

Get yourself a Haynes manual #92007 as the pictures and steps are very good in getting the job done. It will tell you what tools you will need also.

You may want to check the thermostat while you are at it. After the dealer changed both the timing belt and water pump on my '95 Camry, the radiator was smoked, literally. According to the dealer, the old water pump didn't generate as high a pressure as the new one, and the increased pressure caused a crack in the radiator.

Bottom line, I have to pay for a new radiator.

Good luck!
