technically you can install them yourself and still have your warranty. I believe it's the Magnussen Warner act or something (i know i'm probably wrong in the name) that protects your rights when it comes to dealers screwing you on warranty coverage. They have to prove that your part caused the defect or problem. With that said it is less likely that they will try to refute you if you go through a toyota dealership vs yourself or any other shop. They try the same thing with the Supercharger for the corolla. TRD only gives a 1 year warranty on parts if you put it in yourself, which is fine, but Toyota tries to make it seem like you will lose your whole warranty because of the supercharger if you don't have it installed by them. They can legitamately deny you if you detonated all to hell your motor due to bad tuning via the supercharger but they cannot claim your oil pressure sensor went out due to the SC or that the tranny's syncros wore out because of it. They would have to prove it.
