4th Generation This looks cool. I may have to copy this scheme.. or something similar (CF Hood)

I was worried about getting a Carbon Fiber Hood because of my crazy ass weird color.. but i found this while browsing for parts just now. I Wonder if getting the JDM Front Bumper will mess with the 2 tone look much...

How much does that CF hood weigh compared to the regular hood?

How does one go about painting a carbon fiber hood like that? I'm in the middle of decision making on whether or not I want to buy a few things.

cf hood, z3 fenders, front bumper and some new lights as my car got in an accident.
id like my car to look like that one.

^agreed. So Civic-ish..
I thought I read somewhere that the hood in like 35-45lbs vs CF hood of around 5-10lbs. Could be wrong, but it sounds about right

I'm diggin' the look, although I don't much know about Z3 fenders. But that's a reasonable savings on the hood there... 25-45 lbs less? I can see the potential in that... how much does a CF hood run for nowadays?

Hmmm... maybe I'll stick to custom intake/hood scoop for now... Actually, about the stock hoods, is it possible to remove the reinforcing from underneath without any horribly adverse effects? I suppose you could at least save a few pounds with that, even if it isn't the 40 lb difference as with CF.

Depends what you really want to do with your car. Personally, weight reduction is the way to go. That hood scoop will only be cosmetic. I have no idea how to take that frame off for the hood. I haven't looked under that fireproof matting or whatever it is, I assume its welded on because I haven't seen any bolts sticking through the hood ha
But I'd also be afraid that it'll end up with bends sooner or later without that frame or someone will sit on the end of your hood

Makes sense... I actually don't think I even have the matting underneath my hood. I'll take a look tommorow. I remember seeing it on one of our old cars, but I don't think I've seen it on the Cam. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's welded on, although IIRC it's just tack welds.
