2nd Generation Major problem

Ok then, where to start :P

Yesterday i was driving (and it was wet, but thats not the problem) half way home, i tried to turn a corner and the car didn't turn it just slided and hit the gutter . Caused a bit of rim damage but nothing to serious, i kept driving, and it kept doing it, even when i went round the corner at 20km/h, i'm like wtf, i got home, checked the tires, there fine, both wheels turn thats not it, this morning seems to be fine, still slides a bit. Bit confused.

I' starting to think it might have something to do with the oil, cause my oil light started to come on :S, checked it this morning, no bloody oil :S, i checked it 2 weeks ago and it was full, so its only just started to go somewhere, its not going through the exhurst, not in the radiator or leaking, so i'm confused.

On a side note, i figured out what the noise was :P it is diffenatly the bearings in the motor. coz they hve been getting progressively noisey over the 2 week period, and as soon as i filled up the oil, there pretty much fine, still make the same old noise :P.

Anyways any ideas on the turning or oil?

Oil can only go 3 places, on the ground, out the exhaust or in the coolant! Better check again. If the diff is messed up you probably better look for another ride because the motor is not far behind it if the bearings were making noise!

if the car moves, the differential isnt locked up. if your car is sitting at idle and you turn the steering wheel, does the front wheels move too?

ooooh! I see He's saying you got a positive lock now. As opposed to froze up. not fun in a front wheel drive.on the street anyway.

Ok, bad news, really bad news. The engine stall on friday and wouldn't start again, i got it back to my house, and eventually got it started, but the bearings are completely gone now, sounds horrible (mechanic says if i keep driving it the piston will shoot out the side of the engine).

so now i don't know what to do, i'm going to get my rego back, and find another $500 car, but should i sell her, it's not in good condition and she needs a new engine, was thinking of getting $600 for her but i don't know :S

Any ideas

^ It's up to you.

If you want to keep the car, get another 3S-FE. I don't know about Australia, but you can get a JDM 3S-FE in the US for around $200 - $250.

Piston won't come out the side of the engine! Rod maybe! You could drop the pan and if the crank isn't smarfed up then put new bearings in it but it might be cheaper to put a good used motor in it. But you still have a diff problem right? I would be looking for another ride!

mmmm, trying to find a cheap camry might be the way, then just wreck one, and make a good car outta the two. Problem is i'm a student with a very low income, so this will hurt a bit i think.
