Yep - She finally did it - Wife scratch the car and I need advice to fix

Folks -

Can anyone help me? My darling wife shut the garage door on the tail of my 2003 forest green toyota camry, leaving a nice long white vertical scratch mark down the center of the plastic bumper under the license plate.

Can this be inexpensively buffed out or repaired? after 3 yrs this is the only extenal flaw on the otherwise garage kept, ecellent finish. I'd hate to have to replace the entire bumper, but if I don't reapir this scratch I'll be seeing it in my sleep.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Welcome to TN.

How deep is it? Is it down to the primer? Or is it all the way down to the plastic? Can you show us a picture?

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

You can probably find a company in your area that does mobile paint repair. alot of dealerships have people come in to touch up paint on cars before they sell them. They can do it one of two ways. THey can jsut break out the touch up paint with a brush or they can actually sand it donw reprimer it and spray it for fairly cheap.

I had to have it done to my mother in laws RX300 about a year ago before she sold it. Had to have the entire bumper and small trim piece above the license plate done and it was $100.00. Of course it helped that I worked at a used car dealership at the time so I got it at cost.

Look up a company called colors on parade in your area. they are a franchise company that does this type of work. I tried the website but it is only corporate type info. There are others but that is the only one I know of for sure. You may even try some local dealerships to see if they can give you some names of people they use.

We are still married for the moment...

Thanks for all of your commiseration and ideas. I am having trouble learning how to attach the requested photo to assist those with advice on how to correct this myself. The best I can do for now is describe it. It is about 1/8" wide, and about 10" vertical - I would classify it as a deep scrape. Essentially, one of the hinges on the garage door just caught the edge of the plastic bumper. It kind of "shaved" a scar line. It's left a "whiteish" color line, but I think it may not be deep enought to be into the primer. If I can learn how to post a pic, I will attach it later.

If it is hopeless, I will take the advice and look for a local specialist to do the repair.

I was hoping there would be a home remedy, short of a divorce of course...

Thanks again!

Dude, you're hilarious ahaha. Anyway, to post pics, upload them to www.imageshack.us and then copy the URL that it gives you and then come back here and click on the button at the top of the post box and paste the URL. Thats it.
