Question Bad smell coming from vents when accelerating...

Hopefully you guys can help me out. As of late, whenever I accelerate hard and have the vent open and/or on, this really nasty sewage-like smell seaps into the car. I have no idea what it could be...but it's starting to bug me. Any ideas?

you probally have some mold in the air vents, some sort of humidity, someone probally left the windows down on a really humid rainy night or if u have a sun roof that could have been left open. The only way to fix that kinda problem is to take it to an auto detailer toyota/lexus dealership usually has a great detail shop. I used to work up at the one here in MO and they do this thing called uhhhh......shit I forgot but they leave the air running and the car running with the windown plugged up by a machine that basicly cleans out all bad smells..go ask them they will know

I think new filter will solve most of the problems.
Mine usually makes this horrible smell when i turn the heat on the rainy days. But it's usually due to me smoking alot in the car.

Does anyone know where airfilter is located? And where can I buy one, i belive at the dealer, but how much it will cost?

I've heard that you can spray a mold/mildew killer in the air intakes at the windshield area and that will treat it. Use something like Lysol. Turn the fan on high, select outside ventilation and spray in about a half can. Wait for a couple of hours and repeat. Spray it uniformly over the vent area. I can't see where it would hurt anything and it might help.

My Ex had a similar problem in her GenIII and it turned out to be a dead mouse that had been living in the vents. It was all shriveled and gross.

If you said you only got the smell when you were accelerating, I think you have an oil leak that is hitting your exhaust piping. I have a cam cover leak that drips on my header pipe but it really stinks when I get it on.

No an oil leak wouldent smell like sewage it would smell like uhhh.....what am I looking to say here...umm...like uhh burning OIL maybe? Burning oil is a very distinct smell. If its a mildew smell its gonna be something rotton in the air vents and the heat from the engine causing it to smell bad. The term I was looking for earlier is called ozoning. Go up to a detail shop and tell them you need to have your interior and your vents done.
