Hi all, I have a 05 XLE V6 purchase February, 2005 (Manuf. Feb also). Does anyone know if there is any auto trans program update (recent service bulletin) to change the shift strategy & make the 5 speed more responsive & smoother... Thanks in advance,

The latest I've noticed was for April 1, 2005. If your ecu has been modified or updated there should be a tag on the hood.
You mean there was an update available? I have an 05 XLE V6 as well, how would I go about getting that update? I figure it'd probably be through the dealership... I wonder how much they'll charge for that.
Does the update make much noticeable difference? The current transmission is not fun to drive at all - It feels so lazy at times. Hopefully the update has some better logic, rather than just make the shift points more agressive at the cost of gas mileage.
I wish sometime I can decompile that thing and see what Toyota was thinking

Just finally tracked down a copy earlier today myself. That tundrasolutions site is a wealth of information, but you gotta pay a bit to get access to everything.

Had the auto trans shift strategy updated today.... not that much difference but much better response to pedal feed... getting 33 mpg hwy doing 75mph on my v6.... could it be the trans....?
yes there is an ecu reflash available for the 1mz-fe and 3mz-fe camry 5spd auto fixing gear hunting and slow throttle response...i have reprogrammed quite a few and it does make quite and improvement to a noticeable problem, but its not going to make your car any faster. However it helps a proven engine show its capabilities. also this repair is only covered under 3yr 36000 mile warranty otherwise they can charge you and it is a tsb...sorry i don't have the number for u.
does this ecu reflash for the tranny apply to a 2007 Camry LE I4? i also have an almost 2 second hesitation while driving in low speeds in city traffic
Thanks in advance.

I had my 2005 SE V-6 reprogrammed as well as my 2004 V-6 Highlander. The Highlander stayed about the same (was never that bad to start with) but the SE Camry only improved ever-so-slightly with the acceleration-lag problem. Eventually traded the 2005 SE for a 2007 XLE, which shifts way-better than the 2005, but now we all know that the 2007's have their own transmission problems to deal with (mine's OK thus far...)
