4th Generation Gas filler cover question...

Ok, I don't know what it's called, but I'm talking about the little flap that covers the gastank filler neck on the rear-left of the Camry. I've got a '97, and the cable doesn't work anymore, so pulling the tab inside the car doesn't do anything. I can still open the trunk, because the cable is hanging loose, but I've gotta pull away the carpeting on the side of the trunk and pull out a little piece of twig that I stuck in the hole to keep the flap closed during driving. However, it is mighty annoying, and apparently there's a part I'm missing that the dealership wants $50 for. Is there any cheaper way to fix this? I suppose I could rig something up to it, but I want it to work the same as it did originally. If anyone doesn't understand this, I can get pics tommorow and post them...

Oi, there's an idea... junkyard. I'll try to check it out today if the place is open. But... TSB? That is? Oh... Toyota Service Brochure or book or something on those lines? I just downloaded the service manual that was on the forum and poked through it, but couldn't find anything in it... and the search didn't do me any good either. I suppose I might look into a Haynes later today... Thanks though...
