Hello All,
I have a 4 cylinder gen 4 01 camry and i wanted to put some extra power into it. I was thinking about Turbo but my car us automatic. Would that matter? If not, where could i get a Turbo Kit and how much would it cost? Apreciate any input. =)
2001 i4's have the 5s-fe, right? If that's true, theres a Burien turbo kit for ya (like Zeek said, $$$)....dunno how much power your tranny can hold though...
the burien 5sfe kit is $2500 and comes with all the goodies to "slap on" the kit. it would be smart to swap to standard tranny. and if youre doing this just for a little more power and fun in your 4 door...thats cool, but the camry isnt designed for performance and breaking landspeed records hehe.

Scratch the 5S-FTE idea...I'm just a poor college student, but I can wait because in a few years ill be going 600 mph 100 feet above the ground.
I have a 92 camry with almost 150k mileage and its an automatic. Would you guys reccomend me getting the burien 5sfe kit. If not, and i wait until the car's current engine dies, what hsould i replace it with to get more power but not spend massive amounts of cash.?

The more power you want, the more $$ you pay. If you do get the turbo, you should think about rebuilding the engine first so it can handle the boost...
I'd like to hear a lil more about this S/C myself. I can't see the 5S bottom end holding all that stress. Rod bolts alone have been known to strech and deform under mild boost. The crank will hold it, and as far as I've heard the rods are good to 200ish whp. I can't see the pistons holding this either.
Start a new thread in the tech forum, I think theres more than a few guys that would like to hear more.
There is also a S/C that is coming for all you i4's. Should give an extra 100 hp at the wheels on stock internals.
100WHP? That's more than a 100% power increase in BHP numbers. You probably meant 100 crank HP I would assume, right?
Yeah, i know its alot, but thats at the wheels. It is from rippmods.com. They already have a 01 camry with a prototype on it. Should be avalable end of this year. And yes, it is a bolt on kit. Comes with everythink you need.
