I installed my Injen SRI last night, and decided to take a video/sound clip of it. Sounds pretty sweet except for the fact that the camera's mic sucks and doesn't pick up the "psshhht!" sound when I hit the gas.
When I drive, in between about 2000 and 2500 rpms, there's a constant soft whistle. I'm thinking this is normal. Someone please confirm this. I asked aGen5camry and he said his whistles at those RPMs as well. Then after 2600-2800+, it starts to rumble louder and louder as the RPMs go up.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

yes the constant whistling noise at 2000-3000 rpm is normal. mine does it as well and i have an injen sri. sadly the gain is not very noticeable if at all

Sweet! Thanks! Yeah, there really isn't much gain. I think all it really does is the deep engine rumble that the intake makes causes a placebo effect where you THINK that there are gains. However, the one thing I did notice, is that now at higher rpms, the gas pedal doesn't feel as rough.

^I paid $228 from Injen direct. They ship out of Pomona, CA, so I sacrificed a little more in taxes to get it faster. And I installed myself, so all that cost was an hour of my time, and a little frustration taking out the stock airbox. The install was pretty easy... it came with instructions, but its fairly simple to figure it out on your own just by looking at the parts. You really can't get anything mixed up.
leasaunce, no hurry. Take your time.
RedPhoenix, what do you recommend as far as a higher flowing filter? The one that came with the SRI is a 2.75" Injen X-1013 filter.

I always assumed the whistle was caused by a sudden updraft in flow past the throttlebody plate.
Or when the throttlebody plate was held at a perfect angle to cut the air like a whistle.
Test: Take off your air cleaner, or simply filter, and go for a SHORT drive tryint to mimick the scenario, I can guarantee you that the same whistle at the same rpm's will result.
I took a good listen today and deduced what the source of the whistle is. Keep is basically right. When the throttle is only slightly open, the extra air passing through at a faster rate than before whistles as it goes through the opening. When the throttle is completely open, it doesn't make the whistle because the opening is larger.
