maybe you scorched the shoes and drum. If you were going fast enough. Got them hot and now they are squealing. Jsut guessing since you say you uanked the brake I am assuming you did this while driving. Pull the drums and clean them and adjsut to start with.

you couuld have glazed your shoes like i have my pads.

Nothing much to do but to check it out and see if you can do a few adjustments about it. If you have lifetime shoes you might be able to just sand some of the glaze off. But then again this might not be ur problem.

Bottom line though, if they can still slow you down or keep your car from rolling in a stopped posotion, its ainl good.

when you overheat the brakes the oils and adhesives used to hold the shoes together will come to the surface and get scorched. When this happens you will notice a glaze over the surface of the shoes or pads. Normally it will cause brake noise and some decrease in braking capacity. Since it is on the rear you should be fine to drive since the majority of the braking done oby your car is done by the front. You can take the drums off and look for very slick black marks on the surface of the shoes and blue marks on the surface of the drums themselves. This is an indication that you overheated the brakes and now they are squealing. You can sometimes use a rough sandpaper to remove some of the glaze form the shoes and it will help with the noise. However in my experience this is normally only temporary. the only way to remove the burnt parts of the drums are to have them turned or replaced.

How fast were you going when you pulled the brake and why did you pull it.
