CEL - replaced EGR
'96 V6 in a Lexus. I was getting EGR codes "execssive and then insufficient flow". I replaced the EGR valve with a new one. Drove it for a couple of days and now the CEL is on again.
I haven't pulled the code yet to see what it is. Would the VSV be the next likely candidate ? The car has 225k on it so I figured replacing the EGR was a good thing anyway. I noticed that the idle is a little bit higher than it was before. In drive it's idling at around 900 RPM's.
I adjusted the set screw a little but there wasn't enough to really make a difference.
Also, I pulled the little filter off of the vac modulator to clean it but managed to loose it in the process. Do they sell those separately ?
I used part of a sponge as a temporary filter... don't know how critical it is to how the car runs.
thanks,
Bob
