3rd Generation power steering problems

My 95 I4 camry has just started doing this, every once in a while, the power steering will fail, it will start off that when i turn my wheel, it will bounce, like i cant turn all the way around smoothly, it bounces. and once, it cut out completely. But, it seems that if i just turn the car off and back on its fine. the fluid level is alright, any other ideas.??

Also, i dont know if this is all camrys, but do yours, when you open the gas tank, hiss as the pressure equalizes, or do i need to get something changed?

Check for leaks in the power steering system, if everything check out ok,
then it`s a big chance that your power steering fluid has gotten bad, and
needs to be changed. Just fill up the power steering system with ATF oil
(yes ATF oil) and the problem should be solved

3rd Generation

Thanks, me and my dad did it today, we took the reservoir off, and it was filled with some kind of gunk in the screen, so we cleaned it out and its running nicely now.

nice!...

i wonder if that is what was wrong with mine too...
mine just sucks on cold starts while the fluid is cold, then it gets better when the fluid warms.

Great, I'll be checking this out on the Lincoln tomorrow, it does what you describe once in a while. As for the gas pressure thing. My camry does the same thing. It's perfectly normal, nothing to worry about.
