Ummm... that was a sound effect... as in, not real. If you get an aftermarket short shifter, you make get a slight bit more noise form shifting, but probably not. If you take apart your shifter (I'm assuming you have a 5-speed) you may be able to take out some rubber dampening parts, but that's a stretch. My feeling is that its a lost cause. Enjoy the fact that you have a nice quiet shifter!

Plus our cable linkage shifter isolates noise and vibrations.

A solid linkage shifter is noiser and more driect.

Looks like you'll have to make the clicking sounds yourself

I found an old, cheap 8-ball shift-knob I'd had on my Corolla the other day, put it in the Camry... I noticed that, in addition to it sounding louder when shifting, it's also a nicer feel, since it's heavier than stock. You might try a heavier knob, though I don't know what your stock shifter is like. Mine is a big rubbery thing with plastic on the inside that kind of muffles any noise vibrations.

You could also attach like a little bell to it that dings when you shift. That'd do the trick

Buy a Ferrari. They go clink when you shift.

Are you serious or are you being sarcastic? a shift knob made your shifting sound louder?

I'm serious. It's not *that* much louder, but it's noticeable. I think it's because the stock shifter is a squishy grip with a long squishy sleeve, wheras the 8-ball is just this solid knob. Doesn't damp the vibration up the shifter as you go from gear to gear. Looking on the inside of ths stock one, there appears to be some sort of plastic insert for noise damping as well, while the 8-ball is just a metal clamp thing.

heavy shifter will put pressure on your synchros, which will, in a long run, wear them out, then you gonna have some really loud noise when you shit... and lots of metal bits in your transmission... same reason as why the manual says don't rest your hand on the shifter when you are not shifting.

You want the noise? well... loud noise doesn't mean you are going faster or anything... All manufactures are trying hard to eliminate the noise.

I cut my shifter down 3 inches and put on a billet aluminum knob and metal bushings instead of rubber bushings and you can hear clink clink when I shift especially in 2nd and 4th. 5th gear is silent and reverse is loud as hell it actually pops when I get it into reverse.
