3rd Generation mysterious PS leak

hey all... i've been chasing a mysterious power steering leak for a while now, but haven't had any luck finding exactly what is going on. the pump was replaced about a year and a half ago, and the hoses are all in good shape and are tight with no cracks or anything. the fluid is all over the pump itself and also on the boots and chassis below it, i'm assuming from the drip-down of the fluid. the level does not change much at all, and i rarely have to add fluid. i've looked up under the car and down from the top and really can't figure out where it is coming from. i have a few drops of fluid on the ground under the car after it's been sitting a while, but nothing major. any suggestions?

If it's such a small leak, don't worry about it at all. Just check the fluid level once a week and
top it off when low. It might be a small leak in the rack and pinion area but those are horribly expensive to repair/repace so don't even go there. Good luck!

^ what he said

if it's not the pump, then it's most likely the rack and pinion, and unless you want to spend some serious $$$ or unless the leak is major, it's not going to be worth to ti get it fixed just yet

Another thing you might try after you clean the area real good is to get you a can of jock itch spray (I use Cruex) and spray some on the power steering pump or anywhere else you suspect the leak may be originating. The spray goes on as a white powder. After starting the engine and turning the steering lock to lock a few times, look at the area you sprayed. If you see the white spray powder turning dark, you've just found your leak.
