4th Generation Steering squeaks.

Hey! \
I got this weird problem on my 97 Cam, It defently comes from around dashboard area, and i can hear it only when i have to turn my steering wheel all the way, left or right, it will squeak like 2 times, it's not that loud, but i just wonder what i have to do to make it work. Lubricate something? Or something needs replacing?
Thnx for any advices....

Sounds like general problem that was described here not long ago. It could be where the steering coloumn meets the firewall. There is a rubber gromet and if its not lubricated, the wheel squeaks when steering. I gave up on mine as I have tried lubricating it like 50 times and the squeak comes back.

I have this problem on my 99 camry and 02 highlander. Dealer addressed it several times, oiling this and greasing that. Nothing worked. Its been going on for years. I've accepted it as the small price I pay to have a car that always starts and runs. Good luck

I think a good dose of lithium grease on the steering column will take care of your problem. Just apply a good amount to all the steering joints in the cabin. If the sound is coming from the engine bay then check your power steering fluid level and/or try some lucas power steering fluid. It stops all major leaks and squeeks because its thick. GoodLuck
