Can this tube be used for intake or is it too cheap? It seems to be inexpensive. Whats the deal? Any info would be cool. Thanks guys

When you go get it bent...it's highly preferable to get it mandrel bent. It costs more to do, but you get less of a pressure drop across the bend than a crush bent.

If you buy a name brand intake system..the aluminum is going to be the same anyway....6061 T6.

(aluminum that is used in aircraft is 7000 series aluminum)

That would be better... am I right because when I make these CAI's for CTmotorsport we where gonna use another heat resistant metal better then aluminum but ill have to look into this type!

7000 series aluminum is stronger, but it's harder to work with, from cutting to bending to welding, and not to mention more expensive.

That's the driving factor why 6061 T6 aluminum is used.

How long was the piping that you needed to fit your car?

aluminum is terrible when it comes to heat though...defeats the purpose of CAI if you ask me...we plan to use a high heat steal! I know steal is heavy put 1 pound aint gonna hurt!

well heat sheilds work from direct heat but the ambient temp under the hood is what ur mainly worried about and nmo i dont think it would help...for the money! The best way to get away from engine heat is heat resistant materials and CAI style! You can also wrap the intake but you want it for looks too dont you?

So it would be useless unless you use a heat resistant metal because it would just heat up the air once you get closer to the engine. The whole purpose is faster cooler air all the way to the engine, right.
