installed front intrax springs - few questions to ask....
ok so first time doing anything to any car other than putting on the strut bar a while back... and... with hand tools...
it was a pain. took the whole day
ok so. first question. the top bolt that screws the top mount plate onto my strut doesn't tighten... happened to both struts... bolt teeth stripped? or strut screw teeth stripped..? would it be because i shot the spring (didn't want to compress it cause yeah.. hand tools..)
second quesiton.. is it ok if i left out the little rubber insulator that goes between the spring and the spring plate on the strut?
The top bolt you're speaking of is VERY important... find use of an impact wrench and it becomes a cinch. I have also done this by using vice grips and keeping the rod from spinning... but DON'T GRIP THE PISTON ROD...
sorry if I can't explain this any better... I'm kind of drunk right now.
as ^lx said there, there's nothing wrong with the strut
the top nut spins with the piston to a certain degree, so you can't tighten it properly with a ratchet most of the time- therefore, the impact gun is key here
and you don't have to HAVE the rubber insulator, no.....as long as you mount the spring properly, it'll be fine

also after i installed the springs, the anti roll link bar seems too long so i left it off.. there was like a 1.5 inch difference... is that normal?
thanks
whoa, put the link on. its not too long, you need to jack up the rotor with the car jacked up already and work it in that way. its needed, dont NOT use it
Yeah the spring decompressing while driving would probably not be fun lol.... but you should be fine. Even the pep boys dummies should have a hard time f*cking that one up.
yeah did a little thinking when the bolt was still lose and since the car's weight is pressing on the spring, it won't shoot. but hey nothing to worry about now.. or at least i hope not lol
