or depending on brand, it could be black or some other color....but yeah, thats where it is (slanted and pointing at you if you're standing in front of the car.)
i prefaced my message by saying i was a n00b. why don't you get off your high horse for a moment and remember what it was like starting out, jerkbag.
(and it's because of dicks like you that people hesitate to ask questions on this forum.)

redphoenix & 95white, i appreciate your help.
that solved my problem.
Just ask any question you need an answer on and don't worry about what others might think. There will always be somebody willing to try to help you out and answer your question.
PS. When you remove that oil filter be prepared for a mess, as oil drips down from that filter as it is facing mostly downward. It's easy to get to that way, but leaves a mess when removed. I just keep some brake cleaner around and spray that area down thoroughly.

Just because someone flamed you about that question, there is no need to make a personal attack on that person. Your question is one so unique and never really has been asked, you will get those responces. Anyway if you look down at your engine, to the left of you Heat sheild (large metal thing in the center of your hood) and down alittle bit you will see the oil filter. Just becarefull when you take it off....be ready for some spillage.... but not to beat a dead horse......just take things that people say with a grain of salt. have fun changing your oil. Its always a good feeling the 1st time you do somthing on your own.

actually, it has been asked, for different cars, *if* you knew how to do a search
and i will make a personal attack if i deem it necessary -- you're not any better than the other jackass for making a snide comment about my question and letting this propagate.
fwiw, i've changed oil before, but never on this car (my "new" car), as I got it only several months ago. i was looking for the filter below, near the passenger tire well where i am accustomed to seeing it (in my mom's car that i drove).
(another fwiw, since i've bought the car, i have changed the struts and i have done some wiring, but i still consider myself a newbie since i really haven't had time to get into it...i like to practice something called humility, which is a concept that seems to be foreign to the people that continue to flame.)
i came onto these forums expecting to get some straight up advice, instead of having to listen to childish comments from the pretentious self-proclaimed experts that like to respond with "your question is one so unique".
is it really unique lalo? because clearly you were just *born* knowing where *every* oil filter for every model car is located? get over yourself. sometimes it's not totally obvious. (yeah, i admit, i didn't really look for it from above, and i would've seen it if i did, but i did say i made a "cursory" glance from below and didn't see it, which i think is excusable).
seriously, if immaturely coming down on other people makes you feel better about yourself, kudos, you've *really* come a long way.
When you are new on this forum dont try to stand up to others man, i know some of them are bitches and all and dont seem to get the point, but since you are new ant they have (MORE POSTS) other people will usually stand for the other guy.
Now your question, Try to look from under the car, where the engine is, some cars have it under the engine around that placv, others like phonix, you can see them from the top. Look closer its like a cup, and round, you will reconize it when you see it.
My suggestion... if you don't know what an oil filter looks like (and if you did know what it looked like you wouldn't have asked this question the moment you opened your hood) you should have someone else do your oil change.... sythetic or not.....
And your comment about changing oil on other cars... a lot of cars have the oil filter under the hood and not under the car. If I'm not mistaken some Chevy trucks have the oil filter near the fender!

But then again.. I'm just a riceboy
Yea, so do some of the Toyota trucks and especially 4 Runners....I think that Toyota is notorious for crappy placement of oil filters, and recently just got better at it with the Gen 5 Camry. Still the best placement is in the Legend.....Right up front, in the middle, pointing down, you can fill up the filter completely with oil so you don't get such a dry start up when you change it and you don't need to lift the car up to do it at home. Easiest car I have ever done unlike my Gen 4 Camry right above the motor mount (which doesn't help the condition of that either) and it drips all over the exhaust manifold every time I do it and the car stinks like burnt oil for a 100 miles after each oil change every single time.....Stupid placement I think....
