4th Generation Map Light Replacement Bulb

Hey,

I tried looking on Sylvania's website for the map light that we have in our gen4's and i cant seem to find it. I want to replace it with something brighter.

Any suggestions?

THanks!
Happy Holidays.

look for a true xenon bulb which produces a whiter light. This may not necessarily be brighter though.

I put a 194 xenon bulb (yes, like the gauges) in there and it looks HID-like white... hahaha...

I'll post a pic. later... I also did this in my dome light...

Thanks for the suggestions, but i still dont know the part number/name or size of it. the shape of my map light is like the dome light (tube style), except the contact tips arent cone shaped but just cylinder shaped.

Definately longer than the dome light bulb tube tho.

isn't it the same as the dome light? It looks the same. 3175?

If u have it just measure it, and this website has the bulbs listed by length.

Well i dont think so, but i guess that website does have what i need. I measured it to be about 4cm..or 40mm..i guess a tad longer would be okay. And i measured it from metal contact to metal contact.
Here are some pics

Edit - from that feston website..should i get a 39mm or a 44mm? =\

Alright

I'm going to get their 39mm = 1-1/2" Long 9LED

Replaces: 3423 3425 6411 6418 6423 6461 that are super white.

Sound good?

yeah, just don't expect the LED's to have a good light spread. They are more focused than your stock bulb.

I guess you could try and install in upside down so the LEDs face the reflector, this may produce more light dispersion. Anyone have these LED bulbs in their car??

Yeah i was concerned about light spread as well. I believe i have their 9led dome light (or maybe someone elses), thats bright. I believe i dont have theirs cos mines sort of lavender color and its supposed to be white.

SO yeah...if anyone else has had experience with them please drop me a line!

edit - You know what? I found on Feston's site that they have one called ridged loop...its 44mm and if u look at my pics the bulb does have a loop at the end..and if i measure loop to loop it seems like its 4.4cm..aka 44mm...

Hmm NOW IM CONFUSED.

wow first time i've seen that sort of setup. Very nice!

I can definately think about that. Although i would prefer using led's and keeping it in the tube style.
