how do you really check if the defog lines in the rear work?
i find that some lines don't defog at all. apart from waitihng for fog...and looking for physical damage.
how can i check? just want to know how the dealer would check if i were to complain and get it fixed.
Work you way down the grid so you can find which one is broken.
i dont think that would work. for one yiu are running from one side to the other on all lines. and sence thay are all tuching thay would all work. (i might be wrong)
just look for the lines that are broke. and get the paint to fix them
12volt test light. Basically it is jsut an icepick with a 12 volt light in the end of it. It then has about a 3 ft lead on it with a clip for attaching to ground. Clip the ground to metal onthe car. The rear door latch in the door jamb works good for when you are at the back of the car. THen you can use the pick part of it to touch what should be the positive side of any aectrical item and if it lights up then it is getting power. You should be able to get one at any parts store or Sears. It is something everyone should have in their tool box. It is great for checking fuses and things like that also.
I recommend a DMM over a test light. A test light uses a bulb which draws current from whatever your testing, this can cause problems with some circuits.
You can also do a lot more with a DMM besides checking/measuring voltage.
I have a Fluke 87 myself. Awesome DMM, but its about $400.
