factory alarm suppose to beep?

when i lock/unlock my gen 3.5 with the factory remote, the parking lights flash once when locked and twice when unlocked. occasionally there are beeps with the flashing - not horn beeps, but rather electronic sounding beeps. is this normal and is there a way for the car to always beep with the lock and unlock button pushing?

if it is equipped with the RS3000 security system from Toyota then yes it should beep once when you set arm the system and twice when you disarm it. More than likely it is not beeping everytime because the piezo chirper that actually makes the sound is on the fritz. You should beable to find it under the hood close to the firewall around the brake master cylinder, at least that is where I used to put them when I worked for Toyota nd was installing them. if it is bad you may be able to get a new one from Toyota or maybe find ageneric one at Radio Shack or somewhere like that that you can splice in.

it is a black electric chirper that is about the diameter of a quarter or so and maybe 1 inch thick. It should be wrapped in gray foam also to help keep it from vibrating. That is about the best description I can give. Just look along the back firewall and the drivers side fender area. The control unit is probably mounted under the seat and the wiring was easiest to run under the drivers side dash are and out the firewall right around the pedals on the drivers side.

technically, you can program it to beep or honk or basically keep quiet, search for programming remote.
