3rd Generation Found Leak 1 of 2 - Timing Belt?

Its leaking oil like a seal is gone or something. Is there a gasket here? How hard is it to replace, I dont have my Haynes handy right now.

It's either the Crank shaft seal or the Camshaft Seal.

You will have to take the crank pulley off to get to the seal.

Same with the Camshaft Seal..Take the Cam Sprocket off.

If you don't have a hanes manual handy, go spend the $20 and buy one. It would take me too long to explain how to do it. It's just like doing the timing belt. You might as well replace the timing belt while you have it off.

I just replaced both of mine 3 weeks ago.

Let me know if you need help..

could also be the oil pump seal. If you know how to do the timing belt pull it down like you are going to do that and take a look at it. Like A2brb said get the haynes manual if you dont have one or the repair manual that is stickied at the top of the forum.

My '94 2.2L had the same thing. It was the Oil Pump seal and I replaced it fairly easily while doing the timing belt. Needed a new Oil-Pump O-Ring and the Oil Pump Seal.
Good Luck.

The timing belt won't last long under these conditions.

Depending on the leakage.

Good luck.
