Another headlight problem

So I've got a gen 3 Camry, and the headlights automatically turn off when I turn the car off and open the door. But appaerently this morning that nice little feature didn't feel like working for me. My headlights stayed on all day, and no one at my school is smart enough to write down my license plate # and take it to the office. End of the day, my car has no power at all. It's 3:40 I call for a ride cause no one has jumper cables, ride comes at 3:45, we drop off two other people, go to my house, get my hockey bag and jersey, and get me to my hockey game by 4:15. Crazy afternoon. Oh, and to top it all off, my friend locked my keys in the car. After hockey (we lost horribly... 12 or 13 - 2. We suck.) my mother and I go and jump my car. All is well, but the headlights still don't turn off when I open the door. Anyone else had this problem?? How to fix it?? How much?? Anything.

Check the door switch on the door frame, that trigger may be loose/sticky. BTW, it's not too much effort to turn the headlights off before you leave the car.

try taking out the control fuse to all your lighting systems...it'll reset the whole thing or something......it just might work.....

whenever I work with the wiring in my car for my lighting needs, I take out the fuse....but in the past when I didn't (and blew fuse after fuse) it'd cause my whole car's lighting to go funny...like no day lights, my dash lights stayed on even when my lights weren't on, and weird stuff like that....

who knows....maybe...

look on the fuse box cover and it'll give you a rough idea....it's under the big one under your hood, not the inside....I think it was one of the 20 ones...but don't quite remember....? :-?

More than likely the plastic switch at the drivers side door broke or stuck so it didn't register the door ever being opened.
I get out of my other cars and leave the lights on cause I'm so use to that feature on the Camry.

Thanks for the replies. It was the door sensor that was jammed. A little wiggling and it was back to normal. I think I will just turn the lights on and off, and simply rely on that feature in case I forget to turn them off. Thanks for your help.
