3rd Generation Oil Filler is there supposed to be a weird cover inside?

Something that I have always wondered about is the oil filler thing...



Is that normal? It doesn't look like it belongs there... I can fill oil into it, its just that it doesnt look like there should be anything there and it feels a bit crusty.

Camry 96 v6 LE

Splash cover? Oh so stuff wont splash to the bottom of the cap?
It just seems weird to me because I just expect to see in when I look in, but instead I see a thing in the way...
Eh I guess its normal then. haha that would be a good thing ^_^

my camry is like that too...looks pretty normal.

I have to say tho...mine looks like its been eaten away at a bit...

That crust is burnt oil. Part of the V/C baffles.

Not all the oil drains down so this portion acts like a frying pan cooking the oil.
