3rd Generation Hooking up Strobe lights

hey there Toyota fans, just recieved a kit for strobe lights from a friend that didn't want them anymore. they have never been used and are still in the package.. well I was wondering how I would go along hook them up, I know that the I need more wire to hook up the flip switch for them, and I need to hook it up to a 12 volt source, a fuse of that matter, but how do I hook it up to the 12 volt source.. just wrapping the wire around the fuse and pushing it in there can cause to blow the fuse im sure..

Actually since the strobes are probably so low at power withdraw it won't blow the fuse. But your best bet is to get a wire and run it from a better source like a battery. Then run the toggle switch to it.

I was thinking of putting them in my brights since I usally never use them anyway, you think it would be okay to like drill a hole into the back of the headlight

U can drill a hole, but do it VERY slowly if u go to fast you will crack the housing and have lil shards bouncing around inside.

also Strobes can use more power than u think....they have to charge everytime they blink witch can require quite a bit of power.

ive got LED's in the grill for the fire department, looks awesome and i bet strobes would be awesome too.

usually when i put strobes in i drill a hole, slowly like Owens said, i didnt know there was another way without drilling... ive got an 18 guage wire running from the battery to the "brain" of the LED's and then 18 guage to the strobes, im sure that 18 would be fine for your purpose. As everyone else said, make sure you throw a fuse in there and a toggle switch in a nice spot. Mines on the kickpanel but im considering moving it to below the stereo.

if u do decide to wrap the power to the fuse, all you have do is this:

1: Find a fuse in your fuse box
2: take the power wire of the strobe and just warp it once around the fuse. (Some fuses come with these clips that go around it, if they do u can just wrap it around the clip.
3: ease the fuse back into the fuse holder
4: find a ground for your strobes.

I assume you know how to hook up a switch, either on the power side of the strobe or the ground side.

or just get an in-line fuse from the hardware store for like a dollar, just connect your wire to either end just as you would any other wire and youre all set. That way you pop the hood and you can see it immediately without looking in the fuse box or anything.
