I get the oil changed yesterday in the camry, and i take it out for a drive, and WHAM! The responsiveness and acceleration- basically everything that has to do with speed, acceleration has improved just from an oil change. Has anyone else noticed something crazy like this with their camrys? (3vz, 1mz, 5s, etc)

its not that your car got faster, its just that ur car got back to normal. your car gives bad results on old oil. so when u change it. it ususally workd better. i thinkn basically everyone experienmces
My uncle let me borrow his Prelude a few times and there was lots of engine vibration. Turned out he didn't change the oil for like 10,000 miles. I changed the oil and much smoother. He doesn't know squat about cars other than how to put gas in. Seriously.

I have a Ph.d friend who didn't know how to put air in the tires. He also doesn't wash his car in the winter with all the salt and whatnot, he thinks it is a waste of money. He was only changing the oil every 15000 miles or so, until I persuaded him that he needs to do it more frequently. I threatened him that he'll end up in Downtown Detroit in the middle of the night when the engine craps out.
Once you go up that high, you start losing common sense, I think.
Well.. I think it might have been around 5k miles... I chewed my parents ass to get it changed too. I felt like i'm the only person in my family who knows anything about stuff like this. But hey, I'm not ashamed of becoming a car freak, b/c i coulda gotten into drugs and degrading stuff like that.

I hate people like that
My uncle was driving around with 13 PSI in two of his tires for who knows how long. It was obvious it was low just by looking at it. The tires were rotted to where they were leaking air. As for washing...he let bird crap sit until it made his car different colors. He called me in the middle of the night once because he had a flat - he didn't know there was a spare in the trunk. I drove 10 miles to go help him put the thing on only to realize there was no lug wrench in the trunk, only the donut and the jack. Then he pulled out his AAA card and wonder if they could help.
There was only one owner before him who took imaculate care of the car. Car was garaged, washed and waxed once a month. If it sat outside for more than a day, it was covered. Had all receipts for maintenace performed by dealer and local mechanic specializing in Honda dating back 10 years when the car was new.
if you're gonna wait that long to change your oil.......go Synthetic.
but also the fact that if you can feel a difference from when you just changed your dino oil, switch to synthetic and you'll feel even more of a difference

I think we've only put synthetic in.... Not too sure, b/c sometimes we'd get Vavolene High Mileage, sometimes not Hope they weren't putting dino oil back in.

i also hate how "smart ph.d, ...etc'd" people are idiots on stuff like this, i kinda wonder if they can peal an orange w/out a "special tool"...i dont know, im just pissed off at idiots all the time!!!!! like when i drive, i feel that im the only one that knows whats going on!!
oh and no(im pretty sure), changinig your oil dosent give you any gains, its just going back to normal, its in your mind b/c as the engine looses performance gradually you dont notice it, so when you change the oil you think its more performancey.
but i believe synthetic will give better performance though, it gives better lubrication so the engine runs better hence more performance.
