When I was in Japan 4 or so years ago, I remember seeing a Gen 3 Camry in Shibuya. However, the name on the back of the car was not Camry, it was Spectre. At first, I was surprised to see this. After a few moments, I recall Chevrolet not wanting to use the name Nova when they were trying to tap into the Mexican consumer market some 20 years or so ago because Nova in Spanish meant "no go"
I guess the Japanese thought marketing the name Spectre would give Americans the impression they would die if they drove the car.
So when I hear Australians having the Camry: Conquest, or Camry: Ateva, Altise or Sportivo, I guess Australians like assigning names to every Camry model as Americans like assigning letters. I do get a kick every time an Australian mentions one of these models and Americans react by saying "Conquest? What the %*&^ is that??!"
^ Nah, it was in fact Scepter. Search Scepter on this webiste and you'll learn a bit about them. They also use the name Camry too. Camry/Scepters in some years denoted different types of the car.

Well roughly yes, but actually "No Va" means no go, or in context, "it doesn't go." Also, didn't chevy actually sell it there and find sales to struggle because the cars name was No Va?

The sportivo is more a package than anythingisnt it. IT would be something like the SE package here. Instead of LE, XLE< SE and the such they actually name theirs.
I am guessing at this someone from AUstralia can chime in at any time and correct me. I am jsut basing this off of waht I have seen on here.

are there many JDM parts available for the camry? When i used to have my prelude, if you looked you could find some really dope jdm parts.... 1 piece headlights, lips, etc.... Anywhere someone could get their hands on any of this for the camry? Im not too familiar with the toyota market over there but i would guess theres gotta be some JDM camry parts.
yeah, theres some JDM parts, as far as i know only 2 people have the 1 peice headlights here in the states, couple of scepter trunk panels. i think only mike has the tail lights too...
scepter was on the coupes and camry was on the sedans.
almost... scepter is the japanese equivelent of our USDM camry... they were coupes, sedans, and wagons.
they had camrys, but they look different, and come with different options and engines...
zoni good job on that link.... charming, who has these one piece headlights? do you know if they are black housing or just regular?as far as trunk, for now mine looks pretty sick. I had that back panel on the trunksmoothed out with the top and all the embloms shaved. It looks really nice im just always too lazy or forget to take a picture of it during the day Im going to do it right now! I'll have pics up of it tonight.
