Installing Fog Lights (WhiteChocolate I think you can help)
K guys, here's the scoop,
I bought a set of foglights off ebay for my gen 5 (2002). After rims, system, tv, tint, intake, etc... I felt the car was still missing something...those bloody foglights that I was too cheap to buy off the dealer for $600.
So I got me a set off ebay great price (about $40US + $35shipping)
I have the set of lights, all wiring, relays harness and switch, basically i got it all EXCEPT for an instruction manual. I want to know if anyone has installed the kit, if you can give me any kind of help or tips with the installation, or if u know of a DIY (how to) on the net, any help would be awesome.
from what i heard from white3ch0c0late he said that his caps from the front bumper pops off so you can just stick the fog right in. 2002's only i think cuz mines, i would have to cut it.
Are you prewired? When I popped off the little covers for the holes where the fog lights go, I had two wiring harnesses already hanging there. I just plugged them in. My problem was that after I plugged them in, the fog lights wouldn't turn on and I couldn't figure out why. I thought about it long and hard, and I came to the conclusion that I needed an OEM switch (the ones that are on the turn signal stalks) to make it work. I wasn't sure, but I was willing to give it a shot. So I paid $100 for it from the dealer, and installed the turn signal stalk, and it worked!!
EDIT: Mine didn't come with a manual either...

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

ok cool, so from what you're telling me, I should be able to find those harnesses right behind the covers.
(no I haven't tried putting them in yet so I'm not 100% sure they're prewired but I believe they shoud be)
The switch I got with the kit is not part of the turn signal lever at all. it's a seperate switch, rectangular pushbutton, that would clip into an empty slot on the dash (beside the fuse box panel to the left).
I also have a relay provided with this kit, do you know where the relay would go?
lol give it a shot first if u cant ask questions. Maybe its all plug and play just hook up the foggies like whites and get a switch, i dont think you need to do an entire wiring. If you do come back
if i understand the concept you to use the factory wiring you have to change the turns signal switch if you use your own wiring then you use the relay and switch provided

Heres a diagram I drew up awhile back:
The box with 87, 87a, 86, 85, and 30 is the relay.
You don't have to use a switch on pin 85 of the relay. It can be tied directly to ground, but then the foglights will be on whenever the parking lights/headlights are on.
The switch allows you to manually turn them on/off. However the switch doesn't do anything if the parking lights/headlights are off.

Yup. Thats absolutely right. As for the relay... open your door and climb way down into your car towards the gas/brake pedals as far as you can go and look up into the dash. You should see a panel type thing with several relays. There SHOULD be spaces for 6 relays. If one is missing, then thats there the fog relay should go. All of my relays were already there since I was prewired.
