transmission going bad???

i have a 95 camry 4cylinder with 185k on it just for the record. anyways, since its been cold lately alot of problems have been surfacing with my car, one thing that really has me worried is my trasmission. if i start my car and dont let it warm up for a little bit when i begin to drive it the trasmission will not shift into the last gear for a while until it warms up. is this just cause my transmission hasnt warmed up or because my last gear is going out?

Thats normal.

The tranny will not shift into 4th gear (OD) until the engine reaches a certain temp.

Like 88 LE said, it's normal. It's designed to keep it out of high gear until a predetermined temperature is reached. This helps the car warm up a bit faster. You can relax.

^^ exactly as stated, essentillly the last gear is the same as the previous to last with o/d, and its normal to not shift into this gear until the engine reaches optimal temps. My q to you is why are you trying to reach high gears on a cold engine? just take it slow..and small drive at low speeds would be suffice to warm up the engine and thereafter you can take it faster to higher gears (thats would be helpful to your tranny in the long run).
