camry 2.0 to 1.8 swap

Is it possible to swap the 87-90 2.0 3SFE engine out for a 93 and up Corolla 1.8 liter?

The mother in laws car has 210,000 and the rings are shot and burns 1/2 quart a day over a 50 mile trip. I have access to a 29K mile 1.8 engine and they look so similar any possiblility I can use it?

for the price to install it, parts, labor, fabrication for the engine mounts (engine mounts arent the same) tranny issues, your alot better taking that 2500$ and buying a new car. Its a gen 2 camry with 210000 miles on the body, Its worth uhhh......1200$ MAYBE. Why not just take the money on putting in a new engine and get a different car...I mean unless the cam has sentimental value.
Also like I said, the body has 210000 miles on it. Here in about 40000 miles your gonna be lookin at many other things starting to fall apart. Its just not worth the effort

EDIT: In fact take the camry into a used dealership, dont mention the oil problem, probally wont even notice unless it smokes l;ike cheech and chong, im sure they will take 500-600 trade in for it.

even if you could you would be very diasappointed in it. The 7AFE is a good engine but it is a good engine in the Corolla. WOuld be way under powered in the Camry. Only has about 110HP and not much more torque. I actually think the HP rating is like 107 or so. then like others said the cost to make it work would be way worth more than the car is worth to basically downgrade.

I 100% agree.... Trade it in for another car.
