3rd Generation HELP!! car is over heating big time!!

i just flushed out my coolant system and put in new coolant...but now...as my car runs it warms up very quick and the temperature goes up wayyy high to HOTT and the red area...

as i look in the engine i see coolant leeking from where the big piping from the radiator leads to the engine block...

is it possible i put too much coolant and the pressure building up is the cause of the leak..

do i need an oil change or something

any help would be great thanks

it's not possible to have too much coolant/ liquid in the system, that's what the overflow is for.

up....when was the last time you checked the thermostat?...and/or the water pump?

Did you make sure to burp the system?

So... fix the leak then. I had the same leak once. Just get a new clamp. Mine got corroded.

wtf... no. The pressure is determined by the pump.

wtf? ........... How the hell is an oil change gonna fix your leak? Might as well fill up your tire's air pressure while you're at it.

burping is where you leave the top cap open, run the engine and squeeze the hoses to get any air out...over and over while adding coolant/ or water

clamps...yep, any autoparts store

When you're draining and refilling the coolant system, there's bubbles. Leave the cap of your radiator off and start the car. Bubbles will escape, at which point you'll need to add more coolant. Do this until the coolant in the system is full.

Just get a worm gear from Menards or something.

What the guys said above makes sense since you just did a coolant flush, but just in case it's a coincidence.....you're not seeing white smoke in the exhaust are you?

Great shot in the dark! But just a guess on your part!

Were you having any problems before the coolant flush or did they happen afterwards! That would tell you alot about what is wrong.

Total,

My Gen 1 (I-4) did that once after a coolant change. I let it cool down, keeping the overflow tank up to the FULL level the whole time (I had to add coolant to the overflow tank as the engine cooled down). It sucked quite a bit of coolant in as the engine cooled down.

It worked fine after that.
