While we are on resetting ECU's subject...i read on this site that you have/should reset your ECU when you put an intake on your car..a couple of questions about this before i start the process of making my own..
A) Is this nessecary? and if so why?
B) Do you do this after or during or before installing the intake?
C) What is the easiest way to do this?
D) Should you do this after any other performance mods?

A) Not necessary. It will help your engine learn to deal with the extra air a bit faster. Not a big deal.
B) It shouldn't matter when you actually do it - you have the car off the whole time you are doing the install, right?
C) See previous message - pull the EFI fuse for a short time. Really easy, and you don't loose your radio presets!
D) The ecu relearns the engine after each new mod. You can help it along by resetting the ecu, that way its forced to figure things out faster. Once again, not a big deal one way or the other.

ya the tech at mcphearson told me i should reset my ecu by pulling that fuse instead of unplugging the battery but wheres the fuse on a 4.5 gen? PLUS i did install my injen intake and the dang light wont freakin turn off .. its bothering me .. like really bothering me .. but my car seems to run fine except for the acrid burning smell .. hehe
The EFI fuse is in the engine bay in the main fuse block. It'll be labeled on the lid of the fuse box.
For the intake, just make sure that everything is hooked up right! And check what the code is before you reset it... Some auto parts stores will check the code for free.

yea everything is hooked right and your based in oc so like what stores .. autozone? kragens? cuz those are the only places i see and i dont think they do it for free. i already did reset it once (unnplugging the battery) and it went off then came back on. maybe its not the intake then? hrm ..
Yeah, that's why I said that you should have it checked. You may have a blown O2 sensor or something. I can't remember which place it is that does it for free... On my gen2, I can check it myself
