Side Mirror

I bought a power driver side door mirror off of Ebay, and it does not fit my 99 Camry XLE. I mean it fits, but the wires do not match up to the connector in my car. I was just wondering if this means that I should buy the power plus heated mirror off of Ebay. I have no idea if my car ihas heated mirrors.

Well usually buying OEM parts off ebay they screw you over because ebay sellers are lazy and they're only into making money, your best bet would be to stop ebaying OEM parts, and go to an aftermarket part warehouse and pick up a power mirror there for like 25-30$... i got mine for my gen3 for $29.99 so if its a warehouse they're usually cheaper, and you know what you're getting before you get it and you don't get screwed. Just an FYI

FYI - the mirrors are slightly different between U.S. made and Japan made Camrys (even though they look identical on the outside.

You may have noticed this on some eBay ads featuring Camry mirrors.

I live in Canada. Does that mean I have a Canadian built Camry, or is it made in the United States? Also, I do not know of any aftermarket auto stores in Toronto. Does anyone know if there are any? The only reason I bought it off of ebay is because I got it for $60 CDN, and the Toyota dealship was trying to charge me $300.

Run down to radio shack or an electronic store and get new connectors. Easy, simple. They changed connector styles from year to year. Been there, done that . You could even splice the wires together if you wanted.

If I remember correctly, Camrys sold in Canada (until recently and Solara) were all from Japan. I assume there's a VIN sticker on your driver's side door or VIN plate on the top of the dash near the windshield, driver's side like the models sold in the USA.

If your VIN starts with J, then your car was made in Japan. You probably got a mirror meant for US made (Kentucky) Camry.

Does the connector from your car have extra wires to power a heater? I don't have heated mirrors but I would think there would also be a switch for heat. If not and/or there aren't extra wires then you probably just got a mirror from a different year with different connector ends. If I remember correctly mine had 3 wires. (red, white and black) If you hook them up wrong your mirror drives the wrong direction. I used Molex connectors and it works fine.
