think of it this way....."upgrading" an exhaust system is usually the cat and the muffler...unless you go for a full system including pipes....if you just go for the muffler, or muffler and the pipes but not the cat, then it doesn't matter how well the air flows thru your exhuast setup when everything's being restricted from the very beginning in the cat....

so.....yeah....

hey, seriously tho......if you've got the money, you may as well get a muffler now then....if not for the performance, but for the sound...

just make sure you get something that's free flowing (magna flow, bosal, ultraflow, etc etc.... just stay away from flowmaster- its chambered), and then when you get the money later, just add on the rest of the exhaust sysem....

my CAI makes a deep sound. i think its good enough for now. my buddy has a 2001 gts celi with and injen cai actaully likes the sound of my CAI better, probably cause its on a V6, and mine only cost $35 including the twisted funnel cone filter.

I was wondering how you made your CAI...What typy/size piping did you use..and which kind of filter you use? Any info would help...I am off for almost a month and going to start a CAI...If you could say where you got the stuff and prices it would be appreciated...thanks
Ryan

yeah man i got my cone filter from ebay, it came with an adatper too.
i used 4inch aluminum flex pipe. and also picked up 2, 4 inch rubber pipe clamps from the plumbing dept all from home depot.

its all fits together nicely.the 4inch rubber clamp fits perfectly around the outside of the cone filter, youll have to do it this way cause theres no way of fitting the 4inch flex pipe in the filter.

every thing sould be braced sucurely to get rid of vibrations. if your can put together you CAI with out and vibrations it should sound just as good and any brand name ones.

you got a 4 banger....
i dont know if this is gonna work for yours...... you dont have a MAFS do you?... ebay sells full kits for your car .... not too exspensive either.
