depends....is it just a glass breakage sensor, or a shock sensor that is for the whole car?

shock sensors are for if anypart of your car gets hit, including all the glass
but that's also why a truck or a loud sound can also set it off

If it's the same Toyota alarm system I had (Toyota security light on the dash by the steering wheel) it's just a little microphone below the light.
The system listens for what sounds like glass breaking.
Warning: Don't have a woman squeel or squeek while the alarm is armed, it'll go off.

it can be adjusted so that if the glass were to be brokem it would set off the alarm. I can not rememebr how to adjsut it but if you take a piece of heavy metal. Like a wrench or soething and tap ont he glass it should go off. If you think about it the easiest way to get into a vehicle is to break the glass so Toyota uses these sensors jsut in case someone does jsut that. Basically any glass in the car tht might be broken should cause it to set the alarm off. However depending on how sesitive you ahve it set for it can change that. It is "listening" for glass breakage, it does not work the same as a shock sensor.
