flashing ac light

my girlfriend has a 1998 camry and her ac light flashes when her heat is on. does anyone know what could be the problem?

My light has flashed when the a/c compressor has been compromised with the system on. Like if you attempt to run it without a belt the light flashes, or if you hit a large puddle of water and the belt slips, the light will flash. Only with the system on.
Possibly being low on refrigerant is something else to look at.

Sorry, but the only experience I have w/ this type of problem was w/ my Gen 1 Camry.

The A/C light was blinking when I tried to run the A/C. I had to install a new RPM sensor into the compressor. It was a PIA, since the system needed to be opened.
