3rd Generation tricks for testing NSS on a 3rd gen?

I need to test the Neautral Safety Switch on my 94 Camry 5SFE motor and A140E trans.
I don't have reverse lights, I already checked the fuse and the bulbs.
My indicator on the dash doesn't light up for drive or reverse either so I'm currently theorizing the NSS is bad.
I know how to test it, but i can't get the connector off because the cruise, dipstick, and shifter cable are in the way.
any thoughts , help, suggestions are appreciated
or you can just buy the car from me and save me the trouble

have you tried the repair manual sticky. Maybe there is something that needs to be removed to get to it and the manual would tell you waht it is. I have never had to unplug one so cant say that I know of any tricks.

If the car starts when it is supposed to and doesn't start when it not supposed to, then it is working correctly. There is a separate sw/ for the backup lights, but check the bulbs first. The dash indicator lights, especially D, go out on most of these cars.

what does the reverse lights have to do with the Neautral safety switch , the neautral safety switches job is to make sure the car doesnt start while its in drive or reverse, and thats it if im not mistaken.....

1. the NSS has the backup light switch in it.
2. the reverse lights never comeon even for a moment.

I'd rather follow basic diagnostics before hunting down a broken wire.
I hate looking for broken wires.
and I doubt it's a wire in the back as the DASH indicator doesn't light either (also controled by the NSS)
if it was only the rear B/U lights being out, I'd have to agree on the wiring, but that's not all
any other thoughts?
