Our rear window washer currently does not work in either the continuous or intermittent wipe modes.
The washer first failed to operate in the continuous mode several years ago. Since then, we would have to first use the intermittent mode to wash the window, then switch to the continuous mode to wipe the window until it was dry.
Is this due to the switch (84653-32030) or the rear pump?
I think due the high likelyhood of internet misdiagnosis, this is something you'll want to check on the vehicle. Make sure you have power to the switch when you should. Make sure the switch functions as it should and sends power out the correct terminal when you press it. Make sure that when you send power out through the switch, it actually gets to the pump. And make sure that when the pump gets power, it does its job. Or do it the easy way and start at the pump with a test light: if you have power to the pump but it doesn't work, well, you need a pump. If not, you can chase the problem upstream.

Agreed. However, if some other GEN2er has had this problem before (like "low-fan speed desn't work" thread), such experience could shorten the time to troubleshoot the cause.
If not, your troubleshooting guide for this specific issue will come in very handy indeed!

Thanks again for all the help!
I guess I'd be more insightful if our wagon had suffered the same malady and I'd have been forced to investigate...
I'm betting on a blown fuse, pinched/broken wire during aftermarket stereo install, or, since the problem at first varied with switch position, the switch itself.

The fuse is good - Both the front & rear wipers/washers are on the same fuse and they all work except the rear washer.
Original factory stereo
My guess is also the switch for the reason you state. I just didn't want to buy a switch on this hunch and then find it was the pump. But, since the switch hasn't operated the washer function in the intermittent mode for years, maybe replacing the switch is the best first step? If I'm lucky, it will solve the problem. If not, I'll have replaced a switch that has been 75% operational, and I then can rule it out - thus suggesting the pump or its wiring.
