As I was going to pick up my new camry, I saw a Lexus that looked very similar. As I drove my new Camry home, i noticed that it was very quiet and very smooth. I had an Idea - do it up to look like a Lexus. New badges (but leave the v6 badge), body kit, repaint it from camry green to Lexus white.

What do you think??? I have a '98 CSi, which model Lexus should I be looking at?? Or am I just dillusioned??

You were looking at a ES300, hmm well you could do it but you would always know it was a camry, lol.

lol this sounds like a potentially interesting project but if u dont wanna spend the extra money and stuff go get a lexus instead. haha

Gen 4 camry would be the same as the es300. At least they share a lot of parts and design ideas.

hook up the camry.. get a scepter back panel. call it a secpter instead of camry

He has a gen 4, which doesnt have center panel.

gen 4 camrys looks similiar to the lexus ES u can get one of those two-tone colors on your car like the ES's i see around here but theres camrys with two tone colors too u going to have lexus badges on the outside but what about the toyota symbol on the steering wheel?

i really don't see the point...if you want a lexus get a lexus don't make your camry into a wanna be lexus...you would have to spend a pretty penny to get it looking like a lexus and then it wouldn't be as fast as a lexus and then if you made it as fast as a lexus you would have spent more money than it would have taken to just get a lexus instead...so to make a long story short...get a lexus

As fast as a Lexus? I thought the ES300 shared the exact same engine and transmission as the Camry?

isn't that kind of ricey? I think it would be a cool idea to say debadge it, perhaps use the same headlights as the lexus, engine swap, and lower it, and call it a day, but it seems like by that time you might as well bought a lexus :/

^^ the 300's do but the 400's have the v8 rwd. but thay do shere the same under frame so it is all posibul. just depends on how camited you are to you project.

That'd be hot if Lexus actually built Camrys of the 4th gen. Lexus Camry. Just like Honda and Acura built Integras.

If hooking up your Camry to look like a Lexus is your future mod, do yo' thang. Though it's costly and isn't really worth it when you might as well buy a Lexus. Or atleast get a two-tone color, put on a bra and paint the center nose chrome.

Just like Honda and Toyota. in Japan there is no Acura or Lexus. it is a renamed car with a higher price tag. but it does have salightly different options.
