I've got a Jap built Cali-spec 94 5sfe with an auto tranny
I noticed that the power really drops off way before redline and that just sucks.
is there any way short of a turbo to get more power towards redline?
I miss being able to floor it and watch the tach skyrocket and the motor just pulled all the way to red line.
Any suggestions are welcome , well any other than stuff that will cost me $500+

The cali spec gen3 camry is made for emissions and not for preformance
and you cant have both, how many hp does a cali spec engine got? 125hp?
you could try to advace the ignition with a few degrees an fill premium gas, but i doubt it would help much.
the i4 will suck no matter what you do without some sort of forced induction (which includes nos) Bolt on will not really be able to give you even noticable power increases.
If I remember right, those cars had 2 cats. One attached to the exhaust manifold. The other one attached underneath the car.
Goto a junkyard and find a '97-01 Camry with federal emissions. Get the exhaust manifold. It should at least help as it was designed with a little bit of flow in mind. That manifold will also delete one cat.
This is about the cheapest thing I can think of.
Keep in mind, it's still not going to pull like a VE (or a VG for that matter).
