jus lettin u guys know, i'm not a Sylvania rep (unless they wanna pay me)
previously, i raved about the Silverstars. i really like the color output, very white w/o looking too ricer. they're just way overpriced IMHO (about $40/pair)
so, i thought i'd try Sylvania's "Cool Blue". i was also impressed by their color. not as white as silverstar, but a lot more white than stock. and i'm assuming that cool blues give more actual light output (in lumens) because the glass tint is not as dark.
with any tinted bulb, light output will be less than stock. that being said, the issue with tinted bulbs is how you want your lights to "look" at night. i'm pretty happy with the cool blues. they cost me about $18/pair at Wal-Mart. not bad at all.
p.s. when i had a Gen4, i put cool blues in. not much differance in color than stock. then again, the bulbs were 9003 in a fluted lens housing. with 9006's in a clear lens, there's way more difference than stock.
The last set of cool blues I had lasted 2 years. At first I liked them too, but towards the end, I thought they were really dim. I got Sylvania Xtravisions and I'm much happier.

I'd still much rather prefer silverstars, just for the price. Though I can't say the same for how long they last because silverstars did not work that long for me either, close to about 6 months.
Life span for cool blues and silverstars should be same. Its just silverstarts are more pricey I myself am a former s/star fan, who's currently looking for h4 coolblues.

Don't you get a one year warranty? Send it back in (and read the back of the box, cause I can't remember the proper procedure).

yo Tom,
have u heard of GE's Nighthawk bulbs? i jus saw them at Wal-Mart for $27/pair. Sylvania Xtravisions are rated 20% brighter than stock. Nighthawk's are supposedly 30% brighter, the brightest 55W, non-tinted bulb out there.
i'm ju diggin the color n price of Cool Blue right now. hopefully they last longer than 2months!
I'm using a set of yellow H4's off ebay and loving them. 100w so they are brighter than stock even tinted. Yellow bulbs put out usable light unlike blue bulbs that only look bright to oncoming traffic.
I use the Philips VisionPlus after having Silverstars for 2 yrs and 2 pairs burnt out. Decided to go for light output instead of color so I tried the visionplus. It works great. Anyone else tried the Philips VisionPlus?
i need new bubls, right now i have some fleamarket brand bubls that lasted me 1 year and a few days...lol....only one of them is burned but i remeber seeing silverstars at walmart on sale for like 25 for both..gotta go back and see if there still on sale.....
I have cool blues too. I defenetly noticed the difference right away. My old high beam lights are still there and when i turn them on while the low beams are on you can see the yellowish of the original lights and the slight blue in the cool blues.
