alternator or electrical??

Hi..i have a 1991 camry wagon. im not sure if my alternator is dying or i have an electrical issue. three of my warning lights have been coming on and off at random, headlights run dim, and when i step on the accelerator, the dash lights dim which leads me to believe its the alternator(which i had tested and its running at only 26 amps) but this has been happening for about five days now, thought it would have drained the battery and died by now. its the same symptoms that my 1987 camry le had when that alternator died. im going to try putting the other alternator in and see if the warning lights stay off, hopefully itll be solved.

if it is the brake and battery warning light you can pretty much bet that it is the alternator.

From what you ahve described it is the alternator. IF it is only charging at 26 amps then I would say it is shot since it should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 I think.

Was it 26 amps with all accessories turned on? What was the voltage?

Check the battery voltage with the car off and then with the car running. Then reply back and I am sure someone can help you out!
