Flex section can be redone at any muffler shop for about $200 CDN or so. My cousin just had his split last november and the muffler shop cut it out and welded a new one in.
The dealer makes you buy the down pipe with it in an entire piece.

I am still confused here, more questions than answers. Got ahold of dealer today they said 6k miles ago would have been covered so that is not an option. So would I be better getting an after market entire new flex pipe, catalytic-half of the system for around $200-$225! Or just having flex pipe welded in for similar money?????

have you try any muffler shop?
they can cut the pipe and weld a new flex pipe back for pretty cheap price,
unless you want to to change the whole exhaust pipe, which, i think it is not necessary yet.
Had my pipe break at the manifold. Stealership sold the pipe from the manifold to the converter (which included the flex pipe) for several hundred. Muffler shop just welded a new pipe to manifold flange and to old pipe for $50. Did say the Toyota flex pipe lasted much longer than aftermarkets. But I couldn't verify that.
After researching and thanks to everyone's input I've come to a conclusion. My uncle drives for parts dealer I am getting his cost on a Walker brand flex and converter, olt on no welding. List $500 employee $149. Now I'll put some Kroil on bolts and hope for the best with my mapp gas!!!!!!!!

Buying parts from the dealer is always the last choice, for obvious reasons. They will charge you through the nose for everything. Everybody who works on cars at all finds this out fairly quickly - internet is the best place for parts if you dont need it today (unfortuantely you usually DO need it today of course).
