Question replacing steering wheel with MOMO

Quick opinion question, how illegal is it to replace my steering wheel with a momo hub and wheel. I have a 96 le with airbags. I have heard it is a felony to remove the airbag system, which i have to do to put in the wheel. Should i not bother or do any of you have these wheels and think it is worth the risk? Plus, how would they know that it is illegal, i don't have emmisions testing. Would there be a way to reinstall the airbags if i ever had to?

If your car came with and airbag, then its illegal. (to pass a safety check)
But, you will not be bothered on the road, unless a hardcore MTO agent pulls your over..

Otherwise, not a problem, (make sure your horn works)

also remember though that if your driver's side airbag doesn't work, neither does your passenger's side

so, possible liability problems there if you were to get into an accident and your passenger gets seriously injured in a way that could have been prevented by an active airbag

why not get a steering wheel from a stock car like the IS300 which already has a sport steering wheel (IIRC) and still has an airbag?

I'm sure we'd all like to do that, but that costs a whole lot more....
